Choose equipment after defining the unit role and mode, then check the current item effect before spending rerolls or locks.

Guide overview
Standard gear versus unit-specific equipment
The earlier guides list standard pieces such as Kunai, Katana, Magic Orb, Magic Book, and Warrior's Axe as general equipment. Unit-specific pieces, such as Calamity's Eye for Puppet, Promise Ring for Cursed Student, Hair Bells for 8th Sword, and Hexed Blade for Shadow, must match the listed user.
Use standard gear to make early units serviceable while you learn what role you need. Save expensive rerolls for an item that will remain on a developed or evolved unit in a team you actually play.
Guide notes
The earlier mentions map drops, Mastery, crafting, limited event contexts, and the Armory Forge. A guide route may change without the equipment effect changing, and an effect may change without an old guide updating, so inspect both in the live UI.
The individual unit pages help connect equipment to role. For example, a unit-specific trigger can be excellent for a controlled boss fight while being far less valuable on a short Story map.
Reroll only after a testable decision
The earlier reroll guides describe using Equipment Rerolls and locks at the Armory. Before using either, choose the item, its owner, and the stat goal. A lock protects progress only when the protected stat fits the final build.
After a reroll, run the target mode and record the result. Compare a meaningful performance outcome, such as a boss kill timing or a payload leak, rather than treating a higher-looking number as automatically better.
